Magpie Art Collective is a socially conscious Atelier with a focus on crafting LIGHTing solutions, and other items of beauty, from found/waste/recycled materials.
At a subliminal level, our work affirms the inseparable link between human well-being and the health of the natural world. It involves understanding that human actions ripple outward to impact ecosystems, while environmental degradation, in turn, affects societal health and equity.
In ‘Hanging Gardens’, a collection of Magpie creations hang in a grove of trees.
Our Super Nature LED spots wash the tree canopy in light coloured by found glass filters.
Chandeliers are dressed in PET Flowers and other collected waste, with LED bulbs, dressed in our signature Ampoule Couture, and LED spotlights, again with found glass scrims, for illumination.
Spherical Chigubu (means water vessel/water carrier) dot the installation - these orbs are made up of about 250 reclaimed bottles each.
A flock of Terns in PET flies through the display.
We invite you to dive into our world where discarded objects find new life, and each flaw tells a story.
